The world’s largest online poker room, PokerStars, has just added a whole new way to increase their player pool, by launching one of the first Mobile Apps in the online gaming industry. Currently PokerStars Mobile is available in the UK (sans Northern Ireland), with plans to bring other countries online in the near future –as well as the site’s continued use of an Italian Beta model of the Mobile App.

Players will be able to participate in No Limit Holdem and PLO tournaments and cash-games through their mobile devices, and even though the client will not be as multifaceted as the full PokerStars download, players will have access to use a number of features such as chat and the ability to multi-table.

PokerStars is not the first real-money online poker mobile app, Switch Poker (launched in 2010), MicroGaming, OnGame, and Bet24 all beat PokerStars to the punch, but Stars will be the largest and most recognizable brand in the Mobile Poker industry.

In a press release at the PokerStars blog, Team PokerStars Pro Liv Boeree was quoted as saying, “PokerStars Mobile is going to transform where and when I play poker – I now have access to the biggest tournaments and all my favourite cash games, even when I’m not in front of my computer. I plan to play all the upcoming UKIPT events and will now be able to play some poker when travelling to or from a tournament.”
