Public voting for 2011 Poker Hall of Fame underway

written by: Steve under News Comments: Comments Off

It’s that time of year again, where the public can nominate their favorite poker players for the 2011 Poker Hall of Fame. Once the public voting is in, a selected panel will then pare the list down to eliminate all non-eligible players (see below), at which point the final list will then be voted on by current Hall of Fame members and selected members of the poker media.

Last year Erik Seidel and Dan Harrington were inducted into the Poker Hall of Fame –Seidel then went on one of the best heaters in poker history—after a change to the selection process that basically allows two players to be inducted each year; prior to this only a single player was typically inducted due to a much stricter induction process.

Here is a look at the eligibility requirements:

•    A player must have played poker against acknowledged top competition
•    Be a minimum of 40 years old at time of nomination [to be known as the “Chip Reese” rule, adopted in 2011, 20 years after Reese’s induction at age 40] ***This is a new rule enacted for 2011***
•    Played for high stakes
•    Played consistently well, gaining the respect of peers
•    Stood the test of time
•    Or, for nonplayers, contributed to the overall growth and success of the game of poker, with indelible positive and lasting results

Voting is open until August 14, 2011: To cast your vote head on over to wsop.com
