UFC 112 Predictions and Bets

written by: Justin under MMA Comments: Comments Off

ufc 112I’m back with my picks for the upcoming UFC 112 on April 10th, 2010.

We did really well for UFC 110, winning a few bucks and then I took most of UFC 111 off and just played some very small bets. UFC 112 doesn’t have any stand out bets, but I’m going to make a few small plays on a couple fights…

Based on the UFC 112 odds, here’s the 2 picks I’m looking at for UFC 112.

Matt Hughes (-550) vs. Renzo Gracie (+350)

I’m going out on a limb for this fight.

I think Hughes is going to win, but the value in this bet lies with Gracie. At +350, I think this is a bet that I would win 1 out of 3 times.

Matt Hughes has been on the down turn, as he’s 2-3 in his last 5 fights. Although 2 of those losses are to GSP, I still think he’s on his last limb and Gracie is a good value bet in this spot.

My bet 1/2 unit on Gracie at +350

Mark Munoz (-155) vs. Kendall Grove (+140)

Stylistically, the edge goes to Munoz, who has knockout power and top-notch wrestling that can exploit Grove’s porous takedown defense.

Grove is a notoriously tough guy, though, and his long and rangy frame are very hard for some guys to deal with.

I think Grove’s submission attack is not only effective enough, but unorthodox enough, that Munoz is going to have trouble training for it in the gym, and that is going to come back to bite him come fight time. I think Grove is a very attractive underdog pick just because he is always a threat to finish standing and on the ground and he possesses physical attributes and a style that are difficult to recreate.

My bet: 1 unit on Kendall Grove at +140
