Borgata suing Jamie Gold over $50k bounced check

At the 2006 World Series of Poker Main Event Championship Jamie Gold won the biggest prize in poker history after an unbelievable run that saw the amateur poker player come out of nowhere to win the most coveted tournament in poker, along with the $12 million in first-place prize-money. Unfortunately for Gold, his hot streak ended right there and he has been running extremely bad ever since, in life and poker.

Gold’s problems began just after his WSOP when he was sued by multiple individuals claiming they were entitled to pieces of Gold’s $12 million –Rumors put the amount paid at about 50% of his winnings, but since Gold settled all of these matters out of court so the exact figures are unknown.

Gold’s legal troubles, as well as his less than accommodating personality, also made it difficult for him to land the typical sponsorship deals that go along with winning the WSOP Main Event. So after running in the red since 2006, it appears that Gold’s nest-egg has run dry, as it has come to light that he bounced a $52,279.47 check at the Borgata Hotel and Casino in Atlantic City.

According to TMZ, who has been breaking quite a bit of poker news lately, the Borgata has already won the case in a New Jersey court, but since Gold lives in California the case must now be brought against him there –which the Borgata Casino has now done.
