Gus Hansen Dominates on Full Tilt in Absence of US Players

Although Full Tilt Poker’s player base took a massive strike on Friday when feds seized the domain names of the four largest online poker rooms, Gus Hansen was completely unfazed, winning $700k over the course of the weekend.

Hansen engaged in a prolific 5,000 hands over two days, taking on hot names like NoPasaran, gavz101 and Patrik Antonius. Most of the games were played 6-Max at the $300 / $600 stake level. Antonius gave up $329k, while harrington25 lined Hansen’s pockets with an additional $169k.

In the first few hours of the weekend, a few US high stakes online players were still able to make it to the tables: Matt Hawrilenko, Josh Arieh and Ben “Sauce1234″ Sulsky among them. By Sunday, however, the field of competitors looked a bit more euro.

Towards the ends of the weekend, up-and-comer Wreed Platzack earned $116k. Elusive German player Kagome Kagome even managed to complete a money-positive evening for once, making it into the top five winningest players for the night

Gus Hansen’s $700k made him the biggest winner of the weekend by a long shot, but railbirds should note: despite being called the Great Dane, Hansen plays from the United States. Although Hansen may have some difficulty logging in for a while (at least on the Big 4 online poker rooms), his $4.3 million in profit for they year should keep him at the top of the money-earner heap for quite some time. Other US players, including Negreanu, Ivey and Dwan, were missing from the high stakes tables this past weekend.

Aside from Hansen, big winners included Mr Boogerz (up $270k), NoPasaran (up $240k) and Sauce1234 (up $246k). The aforementioned Antonius and harrington25 were the biggest losers. Joining them were Josh Arieh (down $146k), Lay Key U (down $155k), GooGie MonA (down $159k) and Lance84 (down $159k).
